Courage in difficult times is half the battle

Mr Mukhtar is in a unique position of representing the HVACR industry on a national level. He is a senior member of the HVACR society as well as its convener of HVACR Standing Committee in Lahore chamber of commerce. While talking to Engineering Post about the current economic conditions of the country, his said that this pandemic is a test of our faiths as well as our ability to resolve the problem. Although the conditions are tough but this is not the time to loose heart rather this is the right time to start struggle even harder than before.

While commenting on the condition of the lockdown he said that we are witnessing countries all over the world going back to normal life as the severity of virus eventually decreases. We are hopeful that businesses activities in Pakistan will be getting back to normal very soon.  He said that this is not the time to lose hope rather this is the time to ensure strict adherence to SOPs and wait patiently for things to get better.

While discussing the market conditions he said that due to lockdown working hours as well as the manpower at hand has decreased significantly which is affecting the monthly turnover but this time is temporary. As soon as the effects of COVID-19 pandemic decrease, the market will get back to its day to day activities. “We have workers who are depending on us for their wages and expenses even though business activities are almost non-existent. We have paid their salaries since these lock downed three months. As soon as the situation improves the market will respond accordingly and start working its way towards attaining its previous business volumes. We just have to wait for things to get better with a positive attitude and remember that ‘Courage in difficult times is half the battle’.”

While commenting about the government he said that currently the attitude of the government is very positive towards businesses. FBR is also expected to provide some relief to the business community in this year’s budget. He said that people are hopeful that this budget will bring ease in cost of doing business for the industry.

While talking about the HVACR industry he said that although we are the ones who fought for re-opening of businesses, but people need to understand that adherence to the government devised SOPs is essential for our survival. Commercial operations will only work successfully if they are performed in accordance to the SOPs.

While giving a message to the industry he said that people should not lose hope due to the economic slowdown and should hope for the best from our Allah. Even though it is not easy still it is very important to stay positive in these difficult times and avoid hopelessness. This is a temporary phase and in near future it will pass after which things will start getting back to normal just like we are witnessing all over the world. We just have to pass this time with caution and optimism in our minds that good times are waiting ahead after this pandemic is over, Inshallah.
