“There is dire need of two-way online-communication mechanism for Public-Private Dialogue Public-Private Dialogue is a key to Good Governance which is unfortunately very informal and requires restructuring to unleash Pakistan’s growth potential”. These were the views by Manzoorul Haq Malik, Regional Chairman & vice President of FPCCI while chairing a meeting with World Bank delegation at the FPCCI Regional Office Lahore.
Business Environment Reforms consultant- World Bank Group Tim Vickery disclosed the purpose of the meeting is to find online feedback mechanism for policy makers engaged in the Business Environment Reform (BER) in Punjab analyze the existing public private dialogue (PPD) structures in Punjab. He added the system will help to differentiate issues at Provincial and Federal level.
Manzoor ul Haq Malik, Vice President of FPCCI appreciated World Bank (WB) role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan and said major business reforms are required as it is not easy, for people to do business in Pakistan, people have to deal with 40 regulatory bodies in order to open or run business in Pakistan. He suggested an interactive online portal may be developed to maintain a continuous and sustainable feed-back system between private sector’s stakeholders and the policy makers to ensure a conductive policy environment for business in the country.
Masooma Sibtain, Vice President of FPCCI said it’s time to design a nationwide business registration reform program that may create a computerized single-point business, tax and statistics registration system to lower the cost of market entry and doing business in the country.
Ms. Saima Zuberi Operations Officer, World Bank Group, Karachi appreciated ideas and feedbacks initiated in the meeting. The meeting was joined by Mr. Tim Vickery Business Environment Reforms Specialist- World Bank along with Mr. Mr. Amjad Bashir,MasoomaSabtain vice president, Mr. Rehmat Ullah Javaid, Raja Hassan Akhtar, Muhammad Yasin, Sadique Rehman Rana, Syed Saquib Mohyuddin and numerous members of Business Community.
