Two day Workshop on ‘OBE & Complex Engineering Problems’ held at PHEC

 

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) organised a two day workshop in Lahore on “Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Complex Engineering Problems”.

Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid attended the inauguration ceremony of the workshop. While talking to the attendants he said that “Evidence suggests that outcome-based education increases student motivation, strengthens connections between theoretical and practical learning and increases employability prospects of graduates,” He emphasised the fact that we need to modify our educational system in a way that discourages rote learning and focuses more on logical and outcome based studies.

The workshop was held at PHEC Head office.  More than 50 engineering faculty members and industry experts were selected as PEC Program Evaluators (PEVs). Prof Megat Johari Megat Mohd Noor, member Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Malaysia Chair, Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), was appointed as the resource person for the workshop. The two-day training covered a wide range of areas including the need for OBE, accreditation policy and process, criterion of OBE based accreditation and other related areas.
