Slight increase in allocations for infrastructure sectors for 2022-23

The Federal Government has slightly increased allocations for four infrastructure sectors under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for financial year 2022-23 to Rs 395 billion from Rs 330 billion in the revised PSDP 2021-22.

Accordingly, allocation for Energy sector has been maintained almost at the same level at Rs 76 billion against Rs 77 billion in the revised PSDP for the last financial year.

For Transport and Communications sector PSDP allocation has been increased to Rs 202 billion against revised PSDP figures of Rs 146 billion.

For water sector, PSDP allocation has also been slightly increased to Rs 92 billion from Rs 79 billion allocation in the revised PSDP 2021-22.

However, allocation for Physical Planning and Housing sector has not only been maintained at the same level but very slightly brought down from Rs 28 billion in the revised PSDP last fiscal to Rs 25 billion in the PSDP for the new financial year..

It is worth mentioning here that the overall size of PSDP 2021-22 was originally fixed at Rs 900 billion  , was slashed down considerably a couple of months back bringing it down to Rs 550 billion whereas the PSDP 2022-23  size  was Rs 800 billion.
