Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the construction of
39-kilometer Malir Expressway and Link Road for Korangi while presiding
over a meeting. To review the projects under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the meeting was joined by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem, Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Shahalwani, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, Commissioner Karachi Sohail Rajput, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Transport Shariq Ahmed, Secretary local Government Najam Shah, and Chief PPP Unit Khalid Shaikh. The alignment of the road would be along Korangi Walkway and Malir River; a four-lane new Link to Korangi. Under the command of Shah, instructions have been given to the P&D department to complete geotechnical Investigations and traffic survey. A private party would be affianced to take over the water supply to industries, carry out the Operations & Maintenance, Up-gradation, replacement and establishment of required water supply substructure. A committee has been shaped to conduct protections and classification exercises. A dedicated pipeline network for distribution of water to the industries would be laid. The chief minister directed the PPP Unit to accelerate the project and start working.
