Peshawar to get mass transit

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said that his government would formally inaugurate Mass Transit in Peshawar approximately in the month of November and directed the quarter concerned to fulfil all the requirements in this regard.

These views were expressed by him while presiding over a cabinet meeting at Civil Secretariat Peshawar. The cabinet approved Mass Transit Authority to be chaired by Chief Minister and the Minister Transport will be the co-chairman, while ACS, Secretaries Transport and Finance, three other members from the society with one lady and technical and experts will be the other members of the authority. The authority would oversee the functions and regularity aspects of the authority.

The Chief Minister asked the local government to send its recommendations, if any. The cabinet formally approved the establishment of Mass Transit Authority. A fleet of hundred buses would be inducted to ease out vehicular traffic in Peshawar

The Chief Minister directed against any delay and the department should start working paper to immediately put on ground the planned project.
