The new Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Federal Government just recently launched consists of a large number of 1262 ongoing and new schemes of 40 Ministries and Divisions.
However, no information was immediately available from official sources concerned as to how many of the development schemes were expected to be completed under PSDP 2022-23 by end June 2023 out of how many were likely to be completed during the last financial year. Likewise, no indication was also available as to how many development schemes in different sectors were likely to be completed by the end of new financial year in June 2024.
Major chunk of PSDP 2023-24 has been earmarked for infrastructure projects of energy, railway, motorways/highways, aviation, ports while also attaching equal importance to social sectors. Besides focusing on ongoing projects for ensuring their completion within the stipulated period at estimated costs, new imported initiatives which the federal government plans to be launched under the PSDP 2023-24 mainly include briefly Solar Tubewells, Youth Programme for Small Loans, Support for IT Start-ups and Venture Capital, Youth Skill Development as well as One Stop Service Centre for Special Economic Zones , Manufacturing Brand Development and National Centres for Quantum Computing among others besides those pertaining to education, health, women empowerment.
