Going green through efficient space utilization in warehouses

Ever thought about that why industries have caught attention towards Hybrid warehousing? What are the drivers that forced industries to redefine their warehouse spaces to optimize storage capacity and utilize saved space to manage operations in warehouses? How are industries managing to save incurring costs in warehouse expansions? It is a result of human realization about significance of caring for the environment that drives us to implement green practices in production processes and warehouses. Likewise, other industrial segments are optimizing energy consumption, cutting costs on fuel, electricity and gas and taking substantial measures to improve the environment.

“Utilizing warehouse space efficiently and effectively is very important for the industry in improving revenues and production process flow”, says Mr. Abdul Wahab (CEO – Green Build Concepts). “Our mission is to achieve sustainability for our planet. We onboard stakeholders from all around the world and support them to promote green practices. Our trading currency is reduction in carbon footprint and we value our clients by providing free warehouse consultancy in addition to providing economical and feasible environment friendly products and services”

BeechTree – PepperLand under Ahead Brands is a high-street pret brand dedicated to create beautiful stitched garments for ladies and kids. Throughout their journey, management of Ahead Brands always encouraged and adapted latest innovative and sustainable practices to grow and put minimum impact on the environment. Beechtree continued to grow by leaps and bounds and optimized one of its Warehouses storage capacity upto 300%.

“We’re always trying to be bigger, efficient and environment friendly, and are looking for the latest technologies that will help us achieve that,” says Mr. Rashid Adeel, Manager Warehouse at Beechtree. “Increasing our warehouse storage capacity upto 300% with the help of revolutionary design is an example for the industry to find endless possibilities of managing warehouse efficiently”

After experiencing an unprecedented growth in recent years in Online market, Beechtree needed to enhance the storage capacity of one of their hybrid warehouse to accommodate double of their existing fabric storage capacity in the same building. What they needed is a practical and affordable solution that would help them to be more efficient in storage and operations.

Green Build Concepts on the request of Beechtree Management; proposed their project design that enhanced warehouse storage capacity from 400 to 1,200 pallet spaces and also improved the operations. The layout of their hybrid warehouse had 4 spaces. i) Storage Racks (30% Area), ii) Fabric Cutting/Packing Process (30% Area), iii) Fabric folding process (30% Area) and iv) Offices and Delivery/Dispatch procedures (10% Area). Project design was based on the concept of utilizing space above storage racks to manage operations. A Mezzanine was built above the existing racking space to add additional space within the same premises and moved Fabric cutting and packing operation above Mezzanine. This leveraged 30% floor area completely free to be utilized for the installation of multilevel racking in result. The extended multilevel racks were designed with center picking area to eliminate the need of energy consuming pallet lifters as well.

Do more with less, Beechtree has set an example. Let’s take similar initiatives and play our role in saving the planet Earth.
