Employment Generation through Skill Development

The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) provides strategic leadership through policy formulation, standardization aligned with international benchmarks, curriculum development, accreditation and strengthening of labour market information systems under the National Skills Strategy . Whereas, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector plays a vital role in Pakistan’s socio-economic transformation practically by developing a skilled and competitive workforce.

With a rapidly growing youth population and rising global demand for skilled labour, TVET is playing a central role in enhancing employability, promoting export of skilled manpower, and  supporting productivity -led economic growth.

In this regard, the flagship initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Youth Skills Development Programme (PMYSDP) duly emphasizes industry-led and outcome-based training, thereby contributing to export diversification, economic resilience, and inclusive development.

Youth empowerment remains a central priority of the Federal Government, with a focus on bridging the gap between education and labour market demand through modernization of vocational training systems and promotion of digital skills.

National Vocational and Technical Training Commission’s interventions are aligned with national objectives of employment generation, productivity enhancement, export of skilled manpower, digital transformation, and inclusion of marginalized groups. The growing emphasis on high-tech and Information Technology (IT)-based training duly reflects Pakistan’s transition toward a knowledge-based economy and its integration into global value chains.

At the federal-level , various initiatives are being undertaken to develop a skilled and competent workforce aligned with international labour market standards across key sectors such as IT, High- Tech/High-Ends, construction, hospitality, services, energy, and other emerging industries.
