Power Distribution System Expansion

Quite significant enhancements were made to the power distribution system during the financial year 2025-26 in order to advance universal  access to electricity in the country.

According to the data available from the official sources, a total of 1159 MVA & 931.16 MVA  capacity  added at  132 KV & 11 KV levels  respectively while 525 kilometers of 132 KV  transmission lines and 2122.69 kilometers of 11 KV  transmission lines were  extended respectively, thereby strengthening  the national distribution network.

Electrification efforts also reached a considerable number of previously unserved villages, contributing to rural  energy inclusion.

Furthermore, 930337  consumer connections at the  national grid  were added during the financial year 2025=26 directly increasing the proportion   of the population with access to electricity. The growth  in net metering consumers  also marked  progress  toward decentralized and renewable  energy access.
