Frontier Works Organization (FWO) can easily be ranked among not many old public sector organizations in the country.

The FWO’s long  journey was full of innovations and expertise in the important domain of construction and development of the country. The foundation of this organization was itself  not less than a challenge. However,  FWO’s ancestors through their hard work , dedication and commitment have brought  to light a candle that has illuminated Pakistan’s future with many paths and destinations. From the completion of the Karakoram Highway (KKH)  to the construction of the various infrastructure and other projects of  the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) today, all the milestones that FWO has seet over last five and half decades adequately and appreciably demonstrate  on the horizon  of the nation are the hard work  and abilities  of the organization’s  dedicated workers.

Today, according to the information gathered from FWO sources, the FWO as a great construction company was engaged  in the construction and completion of a number of important projects across  the dimensions of  the country. Even in the unfavourable conditions, from time to time, FWO as continued  mission.

FWO’s signatures  were on many  developments  including roads, dam, canals , barrages, tunnels , railways,  flyovers, airports, airfields and mining  duly elaborating  company’s imprints from Gwadar to Khunjrab and overseas as well.

When FWO had launched  numerous development  works in the former Federally Administrated Areas ( FATA), since merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a few years ago, it was then considered  to be one of the most  dangerous areas in the world.

FWO’s successful strategy  followed by professionalism and  patriotism faced  all challenges with full determination and completed number of mega projects including Gomal Zam Dam, a 751 meter long  Nahakki Tunnel, 674 km long  highways and several other power and water sectors projects well before their stipulated completion period.

The remote areas  were also troubled like FATA. In view  of the dangers posed by Balochistan’s ground plans,  the Federal Government had  entrusted with important projects such as an important highway, connecting Gwadar, Quetta and  Chaman  and Indus Highway. All these projects have since been satisfactorily completed  and dream of connecting Gwadar directly with other  parts of the country and Central Asian States has become a reality.

 The company has also opened a new chapter  by introducing Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT)  Under this system, Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, Swat Motorway, Karachi Thatta Dual Carriageway  and Lahore Ring Road have already been completed  while projects like Lahore-Sialkot Motorway are being constructed on modern lines.

The scope of BOT system was not only limited  to the construction of  roads and motorways but also in the industrial areas  such as CPEC City, Oil Village, Hydel Power, Cement Plant, Oil Refineries, Residential  schemes, Energy and Oil Plants, Tourist spots and renovation of service areas along  motorways and national highways.

The sources emphatically pointed out that  FWO was currently  the largest  construction company  of the country.

This year, 2022, FWO has also another marvelous job by  constructing Kartarpur Corridor   allied by renovation of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in a record period of short time. FWO had completed two years task in just eight months.

During their line of duty, more than 1300 officers, JCOs, jawans and workers  have sacrificed  their lives  for the motherland, the sources concluded saying this with a great sense of sacrifice, patriotism and  acclaim.
