SNGPL working on major gas pipeline to boost supply in Charsada

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has taken a significant stride in enhancing energy reliability for consumers in Charsadda district with the inauguration of a major new gas pipeline.

Deputy Managing Director (Operations) Saqib Arbab commissioned the 24-kilometer-long, 8-inch diameter pipeline running from the Charsadda SMS (Station Metering Station) to the Tangi SMS. The ceremony was attended by Senior General Manager Khurram Ayub Khan, company executives, and project staff.

This critical infrastructure project is designed to double the gas supply capacity  for the Tangi area and its surroundings. The pipeline will increase capacity from the current 10 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) to 20 MMCFD, directly addressing chronic issues of low gas pressure and insufficient supply, particularly during high-demand winter months.

Speaking as Chief Guest, Saqib Arbab emphasized SNGPL’s ongoing commitment to network modernization. “This project reflects our dedication to enhancing services across our franchise areas,” stated Arbab. “Once fully operational, this new pipeline will resolve the longstanding low-pressure problems and ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to the consumers of Tangi and adjoining areas, especially during peak winter demand.”

The inauguration of the Charsadda-Tangi pipeline marks a concrete step in SNGPL’s strategy to strengthen its distribution network and improve service delivery. Residents in the targeted areas can anticipate significantly improved gas pressure and reliability once the new line is integrated into the system.
