SEPA initiates legal action against construction projects of Karachi

As per Section 17 of Sindh Environmental Protection Act 2014 (SEP-Act14) the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has initiated action against 7 under construction commercial and residential buildings in Karachi.

An Environmental Protection Order (EPO) has been issued on an under-construction project situated in P.E.C.H Society as soon as it was established. Another EPO for a construction project in Bahadurabad will also be issued. The owners of scheme 33 and PIB Colony have being directed to appear before Director General SEPA to defend their position against violations committed by them.

The management of construction project located at Shaheed-e-Millat Road has submitted its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report in SEPA which is being processed.

Such projects design and build their sewerage and solid waste systems, car parking, rescue arrangements and the provisions of utility services overlooking the environmental requirements. Which results in a lot of trouble for the general public.
