Saaf Pani project: German consultant appointed by Punjab Govt

The Punjab government has appointed a Germany Company Friedrich Fahriaender as consultant for its gigantic Saaf Pani project to be completed at the cost of $ 1.5 billion to provide safe clean drinking water to the people.

It may be added that the project executing agency Punjab Saaf Pani Company has already floated tenders among 42 pre-qualified international bidders to award 14 contracts worth 1.15 billion US dollars to over 23 million people in the province.

Project Director of the German Co Friedrich Fahriaender and German water experts called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and assured that they would provide all possible technical assistance for Saaf Pani programme in accordance with the Chief Minister’s vision.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that an internationally renowned German company has been selected as consultant for this programme in a transparent manner. The German experience and skill will prove very useful in furthering this programme, he added

He said the Punjab government has evolved a big programme of provision of clean drinking water to citizens through “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”.

He said that work is in progress on this programme with commitment and determination to provide the same drinking water to the citizens as is available to the elite. This is not merely a programme but a movement and has to be implemented with hard work, passion and determination.

He directed to form a committee to submit final recommendations in this regard with consultation.

Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Saaf Pani Company North Punjab Major Tahir Iqbal(Retd) MNA, Chairman Saaf Pani Company South Punjab Kashif Padhiyar MPA, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, authorities concerned and senior officials of the German company Fichtner were also present on the occasion.
