Pakistan Railways have recorded its highest-ever annual revenue of Rs 115.157 billion in fiscal year 2025-26 which was 24 percent more than the previous year figures.
According to the Railways sources this increased revenue earning was made possible by pursuing a strategy which was built around financial sustainability, stronger governing, public-private partnerships, and the digitalization of railway operations together with improved institutional governance, operational efficiency , commercial viability and service delivery.
Railways revenue had increased from Rs 89232 million in FY 24 to Rs 92728 million in FY25 and further to Rs 115157 million in FY26 with an increase of Rs 22429 million i.e. 24.19 percent over the previous year and a cumulative rise of Rs 34425 million or 42.64 percent over the previous two years..
The growth was spread across all major revenue streams i.e. freight earnings, passengers earnings, sundry earnings, property and land earnings driven by better commercial use of railways assets.
