Railway inks MoU with maple Leaf

Lahore: Pakistan railway (PR) not only provides the cheapest means of travelling but also handles freight transportation efficiently. So government has taken some major steps for its upgradation and proper utilization. An MoU has been Signed between PR and Maple Leaf Cement for the transport of Coal for a period of 3 years. This will earn Rs. 1.2 Billion annually told the Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed.

He said that imported instruments would be installed in the trains in the season of fog and mist. It would increase the visibility percentage during winter and fogy season.

Three new trains have been started within a period of 30 days while railway plans to expand its services to more than 70 Million passengers. While informing the media about freight trains the Minister said “We would increase the number of freight trains from 10 to 12”

Regarding pilferage in oil depots he said that he had ordered a special audit of Peshawar, Kundian, Rawalpindi, Lala Musa, Lahore-Faisalabad, Rohri, Karachi, Mirpur Khas, Kotri, Quetta, Sibbi, Multan, Sama Satta & Khanewal oil depots.

The Minister has requested all the government and Non-government institutions to clear their outstanding dues as soon as possible.
