Qatar invited to invest in Pakistan

A Qatari delegation called on Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar. The delegation was headed by Sheikh Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani, Head of Qatar Investments Department and Head of Qatar Regional Investment Fund. Khusro urged the Qatari investment department to invest in Pakistan. The delegation was informed of lucrative investment opportunities in tourism, energy and infrastructure sectors and industrial zones being established all across Pakistan.
Chairman Board of Investment Haroon Sharif and senior officials of the ministry were also present at the meeting.

The minister said Qatar could invest in Gwadar Industrial Zone, adding that Gwadar would emerge as the hub of regional trade. The delegation was also informed of the recent ground-breaking of Gwadar international airport which was performed by PM Imran Khan.
Pakistan government is committed to ensuring investor-friendly environment for both local and foreign investors and is undertaking measures in that regard. The delegation was informed that Qatar could also invest in various road infrastructure projects in Pakistan. Some projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are being encouraged to be built on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
