Production and sale of cars substantially surge upwards

Production and sale of all brands of cars in the country have surged substantially by 51.76 percent and 53.32 percent respectively during the first ten months of the financial year July 2025 to April 2026 as compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

During the period under report, as many as 131181 cars were produced and 127042 cars were sold against 86439 units produced and 83401 units sold during the corresponding period of the last year.

According to the data available from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA)among different models of cars, sales of Honda cars had increased by 52.44 percent as 19870 units were sold this year against last year’s corresponding figures of 13034 of the previous year. Combined sales of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris had grown by as much as 64.87 percent as 30496 units were sold during the period under report as compared to 18496 units sold during the first ten months of the previous fiscal year. .

Sales of Suzuki Swift also recorded a substantial growth of 109.57 percent as 13752 units were sold this year against 6562 units sold during the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Hyundai Elantra sales had risen to 2389 units from 1395 units , Suzuki Cultus sales had risen to 4206 units from 2130 units while Suzuki Alto remained the top selling model in the country as its sales had increased to 48832 units compared to 33560 units sold during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

The PAMA sources maintained that different brands of cars production and sales during the first ten months of outgoing financial year 2025-26 quite appreciably indicated economic activity revival and consumers increasing confidence in the automobile market.
