NUST hosts 4th IEEE Int’l Conference on Robotics & Automation in Industry

A two-day 4th IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation in Industry (ICRAI) was held at NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (CEME). The conference focused on how innovative technologies and automation can be introduced in the industries to make them more efficient and cost effective for the consumers. During the course of the conference it was revealed by Dr Umar Shahbaz Khan, the conference chair, that 193 research papers had been submitted to the conference and after a thorough review only 53 were accepted for oral presentation

Four talks were also arranged for the attendants of the seminar delivered by the top scientists and researchers in the industry of automation and Robotics titled “Robots in Nuclear Industry” by Dr Abdur Rehman Abbasi Karachi Institute of Power Engineering (KINPOE), “Universal Robots” by Muhammad Usman Younis CTO, Chief Technology Office Services Syndincate, Intelligent Automation Research by Professor Chyi-Yeu Lin (Jerry Lin) Director of Center for Intelligent Robots Taiwan and “Sustainable Projects for Sustainable Cities” by Mian Junaid Manzoor Sr. Communication Engineer Vision Network Television Ltd.

Executive Director HEC, Dr Shaista Sohail attended the conference as Chief Guest. While speaking at the opening ceremony she said that such conferences not only bring together experts in the relevant fields and pave the way for forging meaningful academic and research collaborations, but also inspire disruptive innovation among students and researchers.

Brig Asim Bashir Waraich, Commandant CEME, while speaking at the occasion highlighted the significance attached to research conferences around the world, which enable knowledge integration leading to development of workable ideas. He maintained that the varsity has been making significant strides forward to reinforce the national economy through creation of scientific knowledge and innovation, which is manifest in its cutting-edge research and initiatives of national significance. He also commended the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and National Centre of Robotics & Automation for befittingly arranging the conference.
