The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is an autonomous body for streamlining the power generation and distribution throughout the country mainly for ensuring electricity consumers of all categories face no difficulties or problems in the use of electricity in their homes, workplaces and industries.
But the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority high-ups were reportedly more concerned, independent and self-sufficient in beefing up their salaries and fringe benefits independently without securing any prior approval from any competent authority concerned.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority Chairman’s salary exceeded Rs 3.247 million and the Authority Members salaries were drawing Rs 2.943 million.
Additionally, the NEPRA high-ups were also entitled to medical facilities and gratuity benefits. The Chairman received a gratuity equal to one basic of Rs 772780 for each year of service while the Members were entitled to Rs 701005b.
