The Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the concerned authorities to hasten the process of providing electricity to the schools of south Punjab. In a meeting which the CM chaired it was decided that the far flung and off grid areas of Punjab will be provided with solar panels. In this way 10800 schools will be electrified.
CM directed to complete the said target by December this year. The people living in the remote areas of Rajanpur, Cholistan, Thal and DG Khan will be provided the facility of solar energy and the government would adopt the off-grid solution to provide electricity to such remote villages. He also directed the energy department to provide a feasibility report in this regard. The CM was informed that three thousand schools have been transferred to solar energy.
After schools the government will focus on transferring Universities to solar power and in the next phase Basic health units of Punjab will be shifted to Solar energy.
