KP to lay its own transmission lines

 

Chairman, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Tauseef H Farooqi has said that NEPRA intends to authorise KP for laying its own transmission lines and establishment of transmission companies to generate electricity and contribute it to national grid. A licence will be issued to KP in this regard in the near future. He said this while talking to KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during a meeting held in Chief Minister’s House. NEPRA has already issued license to Sindh Province for generating its own electricity which is contributing electricity to National Grid Station.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that upgrading the transmission lines is indispensable to solve the power problems in the province on permanent basis.

He emphasised on improving the transmission lines, up-gradation of grade stations and power installations in the newly merged tribal districts, so as to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the tribal people, adding that the provincial government desires to work on new hydropower projects with the collaboration of NEPRA in the province.
