KP signs agreement with Chinese Co for EV infrastructure development

The KP-BoIT and ADM International Trading Company have formalized a strategic collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the November 22-25, 2023, China Innovation Summit and Digital Economy Tour.

Focused on jointly developing infrastructure for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this agreement, highlighted by Director Iqbal Sarwar, aligns with the CAREC’s e-commerce and electronics cooperation initiatives, in line with the Automotive Policy 2021–26. ADM plans to pioneer EV services, establishing a nationwide charging network and manufacturing facilities for EVs and associated products in Pakistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also partnered up with the Electric Vehicle Academy (EVA) Islamabad to provide hands-on training to skilled individuals and technical students in EV manufacturing. This move aims to boost the province’s transition from conventional vehicles to electric ones and fostering cooperation between relevant departments.

Dr. Aamer Abdullah, the Caretaker Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, discussed potential collaborations with EV Academy in Islamabad to further the training of electric vehicle production in the province. This concerted effort aims to leverage the company’s skilled trainers, equipped with US automotive industry experience, to train local individuals and promote electric vehicles at a grassroots level. The EV Academy offers courses in the latest automotive technologies, providing training from professional technicians and trainers experienced in manufacturing electric vehicles in the United States.
