IEEEP Karachi Chapter organised 36th International Multi-Topic Symposium

The Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Pakistan, Karachi center organised the 36th multi-topic international symposium on 16th and 17th March, 2022 at a private hotel in Karachi. The event was dedicated to Late Engr. Syed Sibte Ahmed Jafri.

The two day event consisted of four technical sessions and one panel discussion on various topics. President IEEEP Engr. Sohail Aftab Qureshi graced the inaugural session of the event as chief guest.

The topic for the first technical session was regarding “Power & Energy” during which research papers regarding Microgrids, solid fuel based power plants and Hydrogen technology, were presented.

The second technical session was “Environment, Safety and Controls” where papers regarding reduction of carbon emission, energy conservation, power quality issues and modifications of workplace safety rules were discussed.

The third technical session consisted of research papers presented during the recent student seminar where three papers selected from the student seminar were presented.

The fourth technical session was titled “Emerging Technologies” during which papers regarding challenges in supplying to EV industry, low-code digitalisation, increasing quality of manufacturing and centralised vs distributed UPS systems were discussed

A Panel discussion on the topic of “Renewable energy-are the supportive frameworks in place for speedy developments?” was also arranged to discuss the presence of relevant framework and infrastructure of within government entities to promote renewable energy. The technical sessions and panel discussions were extremely productive in providing insight into the current situation as well as for paving new way forward.

At the closing ceremony of the 36th International multi-topic symposium Engr. Mohammad Asif Siddiqui CEO, Sigma Ventures graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. At the closing session of the symposium Engr. Mohammad Asif Siddiqui was conferred with the lifetime achievement award for his services to the engineering industry.
