Golen Gol hydropower: Wapda chairman urged to meet timeline

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) has urged upon the project management for completion of Golen Gol Hydropower project in accordance with set timelines. He expressed these views while visiting the project site being constructed in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He inspected different construction sites including weir (dam), diversion tunnel, powerhouse, switch yard and transmission line to review progress on the project. The project management briefed the chairman about the construction work done so far on the project.

The Golen Gol hydropower project is being constructed on River Golen Gol, a tributary of River Mastuj. Power generation capacity of the project is 108 megawatt. On completion, it will contribute 442 million units of low-cost hydel electricity to the national grid every year.
