Five Dams planned for Baluchistan

Islamabad: A senior official of Planning and Design PHE Department Baluchistan revealed that 5 dams have been planned for Baluchistan region with the mission of eradicating water scarcity in the region by 2030. This was informed in a conference organized by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) with the objective of addressing the problem of water scarcity and declining water tables in Baluchistan region Water from existing resources. The conference was attended by government officials from Balochistan including Secretary Environment Saboor Kakar, Secretary Education Noor Ul Haq, Director General Research & Agriculture Balochistan, Dr Javed Tareen, and Chief Engineer, Planning and Design PHE Department, Javed Ahmad.

The Conference also emphasized on strengthening Local Support Organisations (LSOs) to strengthen socio-economic development through PPAF’s Tabeer-o-Tameer Fund initiative. Dr Javed Tareen, Director General, Research & Agriculture Balochistan, in his address stressed on the need for exploring the agricultural potential in Balochistan to uplift the state of the provincial economy.
