Faisalabad demands quick up gradation of Railway Infrastructure to facilitate exports

Chairman of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry standing committee on railway has demanded the quick up gradation of railway tracks from Faisalabad to Karachi and Gawadar for easy transportation of exportable goods from Special Economic Zone (SEZ) established under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in M3 Industrial Estate. Railway is the cheapest and the safest mode of transportation so to fully exploit the export potential it is imperative that maximum number of cargo and passenger trains are run to and from Faisalabad.
Chairman FCCI suggested that in the first phase, track between Faisalabad-Lahore, Khanewal, Wazirabad and Sargodha sections should be upgraded and dualized to run high speed trains without any interruption. Then tracks between Faisalabad and Multan, Karachi, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Peshawar may also be restored. He expressed high hopes that the third largest city in Pakistan (Population wise) will emerge as the central most important industrial hub of the country.
Faisalabad is appropriately connected via motorways but the cheapest most reliable mode of communication is Railway. He urged the government to add more freight and carriage trains and run them on a schedule like passenger trains because the most common drawback of using Railway is the delayed delivery time. The luggage that is transported via road is delivered the very next day but on train it takes several days to reach its destination.
