The Senate Functional Committee on Problems of Less-Developed Areas has directed the National Highways Authority (NHA) to take strict action against the contractor who had constructed the Chakdara-Mingora road using substandard materials.
It was observed that the construction Chakdara to Mingora expressway using below par materials had resulted in wastage of precious resources of the country.
It also poses a threat to the commuters which at high speeds can be life
threatening.
Officials of the NHA informed the parliamentary panel that the contractor had already encashed Rs86 millions of performance guarantee. Expressing anger over the matter the committee directed the NHA to blacklist the company.
