CEO EDB to be appointed now after one year delay

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Production and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood has said that new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineering Development Board (EDB) will be appointed within one month. The appointment of CEO EDB is being delayed for the last one year under the garb of an advertisement controversy.

On July 13, 2017, the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) of PML (N) government had decided to disband EDB. The matter was again referred to the Cabinet in order to review the decision but the same decision was upheld by the Cabinet on April 25, 2018.

A few days ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan while chairing a meeting of federal cabinet directed that the vacant positions of heads of public sector organisations should be filled immediately. It is the responsibility of Ministry of Industries and Production to appoint CEOs of different companies that fall under its administrative control.

To select individuals appropriate for the post emphasis is being laid on hiring people with diversified experience, possessing sufficient expertise in the relevant field.
