Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved Rs26 billion for a 146km long highway
stretched between Hoshab, Kech and Awaran in Baluchistan. This was revealed by Chairman China-
Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority retired Lt Gen Asim Bajwa in a tweet. He also shared a
marked map showing the part of the M-8 which will be constructed. To date 502 kilometres of road
on M-8 project has been completed.
In the tweet he said “Work on M-8 to commence as top priority. CDWP approval obtained for 146
KMs-cost Rs.26 Bn-Hoshab to Awaran(purple dotted portion on map).This road in remote districts of
Kech/Awaran is a beacon of light for impoverished South Baluchistan,will change lives”
M8 Motorway will follow the alignment of N85. Construction of these roads will link Gawadar Port
with upcountry by multiple routes including Chaman through N-25, Dera Ismail Khan through N-50
and Indus Highway N-55.
The Ratodero Gwadar Motorway (M-8) will start from Ratodero in Sindh Province and enter
Baluchistan Province passing near the towns of Khuzdar, Awaran, Hoshab, Turbat before joining the
Makran Coastal Highway just east of the port city of Gwadar. The M8 will cross the Dasht River and
pass near the Mirani Dam in Baluchistan Province. The M8 after completion will have 4-lanes and a
total length of 892 km.
