CDA to make Kashmir Highway Islamabad a signal free corridor

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to construct 5 interchanges on Kashmir Highway to ease the flow of traffic and create a signal free corridor for free movement of traffic. According to sources Instructions have been issued to prepare PC-Is of these projects within two weeks so that these projects could be taken up for execution.

These interchanges have been planned at 7th Avenue Kashmir Highway, 9th Avenue Khayaban-e-Iqbal, 10th Avenue Kashmir Highway, 11th Avenue Kashmir Highway and 12th Avenue Kashmir Highway. Currently there are signals on these intersections which can be extremely cumbersome to traverse during rush hours.

If the PC-1 of these projects is approved by the CDA-DWP the federal government would be requested for funding of these public welfare projects under PSDP grant

Though the provision of these interchanges had been made in master plan decades ago when the capital city was in making stage, no attempt regarding execution of these projects was made in the past..
