Canadian Solar Company to invest in off grid areas of Punjab

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar met with representatives of Canadian company interested in development and installation of solar power project in Punjab. He directed the company to target far flung areas of Punjab for their solar project like Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Cholistan and Thal.
The president of Canadian company Projex international in the meeting conveyed the interest of his company in the development of solar power plant in Pakistan. Chief Executive Grace Solar Pakistan Nouman Khan was also present in the meeting along with Provincial Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik, chief secretary, additional chief secretary home, principal secretary to CM, secretary energy, chief of the Special Monitoring Unit, chief executive officer Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Company, MD Punjab Power Development Board.
According to sources the Canadian company has agreed to develop solar plants in compliance with the requirements stated by the provincial authorities of Punjab. The parts of Punjab where transmission lines have not yet reached will be energized by modern off grid solar panels. Switching to solar power not only saves foreign exchange but also helps preserve the environment by reducing the release of harmful greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
