In a bid to attract investments in the country the government has announced 3 more special economic zones to be built in Lahore and Sheikhupura.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif performed the ground breaking of the Ombre Special Economic Zone, Sundar Green Special Economic Zone and Smart Special Economic Zone. In his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the crucial need to spread a network of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across the country, showcasing the government’s commitment to facilitating investors.

The Prime Minister commended the private sector’s efforts in spearheading the establishment of these SEZs, highlighting their dedication to attracting investments worth billions of rupees. He reassured the private sector of unwavering support from both the federal and Punjab governments. Additionally, the private sector’s plan to set up a three-megawatt solar power plant and provide vocational training facilities was applauded for its contribution to sustainable development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also underscored the government’s commitment to furthering the public sector’s involvement in SEZs. To this end, the government would provide free land to investors, a precedent set by the Bahawalpur Solar Park project. Drawing attention to the global surge in oil prices, the Prime Minister stressed the imperative of harnessing alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydel energy. By embracing these renewable sources, the nation could ensure the cost-effectiveness of local products, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient economy.
