University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized 1st International Conference on Mechanical Engineering (ICME-2020). Minister of Punjab for higher education Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz participated in the event as chief guest. Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Jawed Salim Qureshi, Vice Chancellor UET Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, national and international delegates, students and faculty members attended the event in great numbers.
PHVACR Society Lahore Chapter supported the event by setting up its exhibition. The society presented in the premier plenary session and also arranged a full session for 2 hours in the conference presenting technology and products. The society also provided sponsorship to the event. Ch Abdur Rauf, Chairman Advisory Council given brief presentation on Society activities and it’s achievement in HVACR sector both at National and International levels. Mr. Nisar Mohyuddin, Mr Ramzan Saeed and Mr. Muhammad Faheem shahbaz also given presentations on various topics.
The theme of the conference was innovation. In this regard PEC announced 30 awards to encourage innovation for students worth Rs. 1 million each. A committee of vice chancellors of Pakistan will select topics from all domains of education and students would work on these topics by preparing their projects. These awards will be given to first top 30 best projects. After that PEC will help them to register their papers, sell their projects locally and internationally. In the result the selling price will also be given to the student.
147 research papers from Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, France, Denmark, UK and Bosnia were received in the conference. While 73 presentations and 74 posters were selected to be presented in the conference.
While addressing the occasion Chairman PEC Jawed Salim Qureshi said that this is not a biggest pride for me that I am Chairman of PEC but the real pride is that I am an Alumni of UET.
