Scope of Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV reduced to 260 MGD

During a recent meeting of Central Development Working Party (CDWP) the project “Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV 650 MGD (1st Revised)” came under consideration

The project was presented by the Ministry of Water Resources at a cost of Rs 191.1945 billion. During the meeting of CDWP which met with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan in the chair, the importance of the project was discussed at great lengths. The deputy chairman Planning Commission emphasized that there is a severe water shortage in Karachi and therefore, the project needs to be carried out on a fast track basis.

The project which was originally targeting 650 MGD of water at was reduced to 260MGD at an estimated cost of Rs 126 billion. The project with its reduced scope has been recommended to ECNEC for further approval

During the meeting of the CDWP the position paper presented by the Ministry of Information Technology namely, “Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan Phase-1 ICT” worth Rs 1,922.864 million was also approved.
