Pakistan HVACR society along with Ministry of Climate change, Lahore chamber of commerce and Industry and UNDP organised an event to celebrate the World Ozone Day, on the 16th of September, at Falletti’s Hotel Lahore. Malik Amin Aslam, special assistant to prime minister on climate change graced the event as chief guest.
The event was attended by renowned figures from the HVACR industry as well as from Lahore Chamber of Commerce and industry. Mr. Ahmed Naeem Chughtai, Hony. General Secretary Pakistan HVACR society delivered the welcome address to the event. He was followed by Syed Mujtaba Hussain, Joint secretary MOCC, Mr. Usman Manzoor programme officer ECC unit UNDP Pakistan (TBD by CO, UNDP), Mr Muhammad Riaz Baig (Co- chair technical advisory committee Pakistan HVACR society.
Guest of Honor Mr Khurram Rehmam Malik, President Pakistan HVACR society also shared his views at the event followed by guest of honor Mr. Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President Lahore chamber of commerce and Industry. Malik Amin Aslam, the Chief guest at the occasion while addressing the participants said that Pakistan is one of the most affected countries by climate change in the whole world although it does not contribute as much to the deterioration of the climate. He highlighted the important steps taken by the current government to mitigate the effects of climate change on the country including the Billion tree tsunami.
This was followed by presentations on Ozone by renowned professors and experts in the field
Dr Waqar Ahmad from Karachi University presented on the Science of Ozone. Mr Mosuf Ali National Ozone expert shared his presentation on new refrigerants in RAC sector. Kigali Amendment was explained by Mr Iqbal P. Sheikh (CEO Inconsult). Presentation on Cold Chain was given by Mr. Muhammad Amjad, Projects Director SCBS Pvt Ltd. Engr Niar Mohyud Din shared his presentation on Mitigation of climate change and thermal insulation of building. Mr Aqrab Ali Rana CEO PGBC also shared his views with reference to green building initiatives. Mr. Fahim I. Siddiqqui (Chairman technical advisory committee, Pakistan HVACR society provided the Conclusion remarks for the event. Shields and souvenirs were also distributed among the participants
