The 2023 Global Services Location Index by Kearney has ranked Pakistan as the world’s most financially attractive Information Technology (IT) outsourcing destination..
Additionally, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has identified Pakistan as the second most significant supplier of digital labour in software development and technology services.
The third most significant labour supplier included clerical and data entry services, creative and multimedia services, professional services, sales and marketing support services, software development and technology services, and writing and translation services.
In addition, there were 45 e-Rozgar center’s located in 36 districts across Pakistan.
This new initiative aims to empower the youth through digital skills training and employment opportunities. These centres act as hubs where individuals can receive training in various digital fields such as freelancing, digital marketing, content writing, and graphic design.
The goal was to establish as many as 10,000 E- Rozgar centres in Pakistan, providing affordable workspaces for freelancers and startups, ultimately benefitting one million freelancers. The federal government will also be supporting the establishment of E-Rozgar center’s by providing interest -free loans up to Rs 10 million.
The IT industry in Pakistan was currently generating an annual export in the range of US $ 3 to 4 billion. However, in order to achieve the ambitious target of yearly exports off as much as US $ 15 billion in the next five years, it was necessary that at least 200000 proficient and specialized IT professional were added.
Pakistan’s ICT industry cater to the world’s largest entities among its regular clients. Several international companies, including Global enterprises like Bentley , Ciklum, IBM, Mentor Graphics, and VM ware have established global consulting services centres, research and development facilities, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) support centres in Pakistan thus generating high paying job opportunities for the talented youth , contributing to the development of the soft image of Pakistan, and attracting more and more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Major technical hubs in Pakistan’s IT and IT enabled services (ITeS) were Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Pakistan’s ICT industry has 600000 plus English-speaking IT & BPO professionals with expertise in current and emerging IT products and technologies.
