OGDCL starts production from Chanda-7 at Kohat

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production enterprise, has announced the commencement of production from the Chanda-7 well in Kohat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, along with the successful reactivation of the Kunnar-8 well in Hyderabad, Sindh, to increase oil and gas output.

The Chanda-7 well, a new development project, has been successfully tested, completed, and brought online using OGDCL’s in-house expertise. Currently, the well is producing 305 barrels per day (BPD) of oil, 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, and 3.0 metric tons per day (MTD) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The well is connected to OGDCL’s Chanda Plant, with gas being injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network. The production from Chanda-7 is anticipated to save $22.57 million annually in foreign exchange by substituting imports.

In addition, OGDCL has successfully revitalized the Kunnar-8 well in Hyderabad, Sindh. After re-completion, the well has resumed production, contributing an additional 540 barrels of oil per day. This revitalization is expected to save $15.94 million annually in foreign exchange through import substitution.
