National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has been made ‘inaugural participant’ in a new ranking category introduced by Times Higher Education (THE), a renowned UK-based university ranking agency. The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
THE has developed a new set of performance metrics in order to evaluate and rank universities under the new category, which assesses universities against 11 out of 17 SDGs. This year, 462 worldwide universities have been considered for the ranking.
The list is currently led by New Zealand’s University of Auckland, while Canada’s McMaster University and the University of British Columbia, and the UK’s University of Manchester complete the top three while. In the list of THE ranking, Japan is the most-represented nation in the table with 41 institutions, followed by the US with 31 and Russia with 30.
