The 969 MW Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project will resume electricity generation by the end of this month as restoration work in the tail race tunnel nears completion. Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (retd) visited the project to review the restoration efforts and the project’s preparedness for resuming power generation.
The project’s restoration team informed the chairman that the concrete lining in the collapsed area of the tunnel has been completed, and other affected sections have been strengthened using lattice girder, rock bolting, and shotcrete. Sweeping and cleaning of the tunnel will start next week.
