Mobile manufacturing companies of Pakistan had produced 84.4 million mobile devices in five years reflecting the country’s phenomenal growth also resulting in the creation of thousands of employment opportunities.
According to the information which became available while surfing the annual report of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), as many as 25 million smartphones were among the total devices produced during the period from January 2019 to September 2023.
A total of 33 local and foreign companies established manufacturing plants locally under the Mobile Device Manufacturing Regulations introduced in 2021.
These companies, operating both as standalone entities and through joint ventures, had obtained a 10 years authorization under the Mobile Device Manufacturing Regulations.
Export of locally manufactured handsets was also initiated with a large number of 120000 SEEGO brand mobiles labeled as “Manufactured in Pakistan” were exported to the African market in December 2022,the report mentioned.
