KIA Lucky Motors (KLM) has officially launched its much-awaited all-wheel 2,000cc sport utility vehicle, KIA Sportage, in Pakistan. The vehicle comes with 100,000km or four years warranty.
Kia Lucky Motors CEO Asif Rizvi while addressing the media said that KLM would take at least 5 years to achieve 50 percent localization of parts; adding that KLM had planned to localize 12 percent parts this year in order to get sustainable growth under stiff economic condition.
He said that currently “There were long waiting periods and some consumers even had to pay a premium to get their vehicles delivered early. However, after the new entrants coming into the market, consumers will neither have to pay any a premium nor will they have to wait months for delivery of vehicles.”
KLM has set up a new state of the art auto plant at port Qasim having a capacity of 50,000 units per year invested. The total investment on the plant is over US$175 million.
It is pertinent to mention here that for five consecutive years, KIA has been ranked as No 1 mass-produced car in the JD Power’s Initial Quality Survey, which is based on their own internal inspection processes (JD Power is an American company that ranks vehicles).
