Minister of Energy, Khurram Dastgir Khan, as was instructed by the PM of Pakistan Shehbaz Shareef, visited Iran earlier to communicate with his counterpart in the neighboring country Ali Akbar Mehrabian on increasing and strengthening the relations between both the countries mutually. The main reason for his visit was to discuss the project of a 100MW power supply to Gawadar in Makran Division. The agreement has been officially signed between both the countries in this regard.
The electricity transmission line had already been laid from Iran to Gawadar after Mr. Khurram Dastgir Khan’s earlier visit to Iran. The conversation was mainly focused on continuity of already ongoing projects between both the countries and initiation of new joint ventures in the field of power and energy. Three separate sessions were held between the technical teams working on the project which led to the finalization of the agreement.
During his visit, the energy minister also attended a ceremony on the commemoration of ‘National Day’ of Pakistan organized by the Pakistan embassy in Tehran. Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian was the Chief guest on the occasion. Mr. Khurram Dastgir Khan stated that Pakistan and Iran are the two countries with a very strong bond based on faith, culture and shared history. He said that he was looking forward to the betterment of relationship between both the countries and he also expressed his condolences on the lives lost in Turkey, Syria and Iran due to the recent earthquakes.
Minister of Energy Iran said that the ties between both the countries have a lot of potential for improvement and the government of Iran is looking forward to working for the mutual benefits of both the countries.
