Indigenously developed Electric cars to be available in market by 2021

 

Distinguished Innovations, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship (DICE) and Sir Syed University Engineering & Technology (SSUET) launched the prototype of first ever ‘Made in Pakistan’ electric car at the All Pakistan Dice-Automotive 2019 held at SSUET.

SSUET faculty and DICE representatives told the media that two variants of 660cc Dice car were being manufactured (gasoline and electric) which was expected to be available in the market by 2021. They urged the government to take supportive measures in order to protect this indigenous car project in next auto policy; adding the project cost was estimated to Rs 25 million.

They said there were immense opportunity in auto, health, Halal foods and other sectors but “we had to find import substitutions instead of importing finished goods and stressed upon the need of value addition to increase country’s exports.”

The event was attended by Jawaid Anwar Chancellor SSUET, Prof, Dr Vali Khan vice chancellor, Cdre (retd) Engr Syed Sarfaraz Ali, Registrar SSUET, Dr Khurshid Qureshi, chairman and founder DICe and Saad Ellahie, president DICE.
