Honeywell Solstice® ze (R-1234ze): A Sustainable Refrigerant for the Future of Cooling

As industries worldwide transition toward sustainable technologies, the demand for environmentally responsible refrigerants has never been greater. The refrigerant is compatible with various compressor technologies, including reciprocating, scroll, screw, and centrifugal compressors, enabling easier adoption in both new equipment and system upgrades. Because its operating characteristics closely resemble those of R-134a, implementation often requires only minor design modifications, making the transition both practical and cost-effective.

Honeywell Solstice® ze is already being used across a broad range of industrial and commercial cooling applications. These include air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, district heating and cooling systems, heat pumps, refrigerators, vending machines, beverage dispensers, air dryers, and CO₂ cascade refrigeration systems. It supports equipment capacities ranging from a few kilowatts to as much as 20 MW, making it suitable for both small commercial installations and large industrial facilities.
