Gas Consumers addition and Pipeline Construction by two public sector entities

Two public entities, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) have during the year 2021-22 collectively added 387712 new consumers against target of 437326 showing 88 percent achievement.

SNGPL  had achieved 100 per cent of target in terms of addition of domestic consumers whereas  it had failed to achieve the targets of commercial and industrial targets by 72 percent and 40 percent respectively.

SSGCL had failed to achieve targets for addition of domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and its achievement stood at 64 per cent, 675 per cent and 47 per cent respectively for all categories of consumers during the period under report, as per information available from official sources concerned.

Moreover, 3251 km transmission and distribution pipelines were constructed by both the entities against target of 3167 km which reflected 102 percent achievement.

Regarding projects listed in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Federal Government, total nine Energy (Fuel) sector projects with an allocation of Rs 2958 million were implemented by the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), Gas companies and Inter State Gas System Limited under the Petroleum Division.

Out of 9 projects, three projects including one laboratory testing facility up gradation by HDIP and two gas supply schemes to Special Economic Zones by SNGPL and SSGCL were also completed by end June 2022.
