Engr. Khurram Malik, Regional Manager MEP DWP group talks to Engineering Post
DWP Group is one of the leading icons of the technology trade in Pakistan. For the last 20 years DWP Group has been delivering comprehensive services and solutions to customers all over Pakistan. It is a known fact that a company is only as good as its employees so we asked Engineer Khurram Malik Regional Manager-MEP at DWP group to share some insights with us about his amazing journey with DWP Group.
Engr. Khurram Malik joined DWP Group at a very young age after graduating from an engineering university. At the age of 24 he was among the pioneers who joined the commercial air conditioning wing of DWP group specifically for Gree. He also completed his MBA in 2015 from UET Lahore. While talking exclusively to Engineering Post Engr. Khurram reminisced “Although by now we have completed more than 500 projects of commercial air conditioning from DWP platform but I still remember our first project was the 500 ton HVAC installation at the then newly erected Kidney centre at Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur.” Since then Engr. Khurram has worked for a vast number of prestigious projects including Nirvana Spa Lahore, Coca cola international Headquarter, DHA Raya Golf Club and many others.
“My efforts at DWP/Gree have always been acknowledged and the company has provided ample benefits for me for my work. Not only me, but our whole MEP team been working in the same group for more than 8 years which is essentially because we are satisfied with our jobs” said Engr. Khurram Malik.
Just like any other successful company, DWP/Gree never stopped the process of innovation and kept working to provide the latest technology in the market. Currently Gree is providing state of the art VRF System (6th Generation). DWP is also distributor of Ebara Brand for Absorption Chillers, Sitalklima for AHU’s/FCU’s. “We have already installed absorption Chillers at PKLI, Lahore, PIMS Islamabad and many other locations.”
Unlike many other companies who rely only on importing the units, DWP/Gree has stood out by choosing to localise their production. Right now DWP has established three manufacturing facilities in Pakistan for residential/semi commercial AC’s, refrigerators, LED TV’s and many other electronic products. Apart from just some essential parts, DWP is manufacturing more than 80% of its air-conditioners & other products locally. “DWP group is working on a very complex technology transfer program to ensure maximum local manufacturing of parts and minimum reliance on imports” said Engr. Khurram while divulging the inner workings of DWP in Pakistan.
To avoid stagnation DWP group has also worked to diversify their range of products in the market. Right now DWP group has transformed itself into a company providing complete MEP solution for customers. We have signed agreement with Elevator brand “Japan Sanyo” and we are also providing firefighting solution.
EcoStar LED TV’s are amongst top three largest selling TV brands in Pakistan is manufactured by DWP group. Water dispensers, toasters, microwave ovens, refrigerators and other products are being launched from the platform of DWP group (Gree & EcoStar). DWP is also a major player in IT/Tech. field and is partner with Dell, Cisco and Xerox etc. Most recently DWP group has also acquired a cement factory which will become operational as soon as the new assembly line is established” revealed Engr. Khurram.
Keeping in view the vast number of government projects expected to hit the market in the near future DWP group has also worked to register itself with all the major authorities in the country to maximise their chances. Engr Khurram told Engineering Post that DWP group is already registered with C&W, PEC, IDAP, PWD and other major authorities which are expected to release projects. DWP is also a major player in providing MEP services to Defence Sector (Army, Navy and PAF).
