The Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Jehanzeb Khan chaired a session at Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for the approval and discussion of seven projects with estimated cost of Rs 41.34 billion. Officials of various federal ministries has attended the meeting while the representatives of provincial governments linked through video link. The approval of six projects with a combined cost of Rs16.111bn and a project worth Rs25.226bn for approval of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has been discussed. The projects taken up by the CDWP relate to health, higher education, industries and production and information technology sectors. In the health sector, two projects ‘Strengthening Civil Registration & Vital Statistics System’ worth Rs201.92m has been approved. Moreover, the ‘Balochistan Human Capital Investment Project’ worth Rs5.62bn has also been officiated. The projects related to Education sector is ‘PhD Scholarship under US- Pakistan Knowledge Corridor’ worth Rs25.226bn has been referred to CDWP’s financial powers while the second project ‘Jalozai Campus of UET Peshawar’ worth Rs6.535bn has been approved. Two projects related to Information Technology worth about Rs1.470bn are also approved for execution. To receive a benefit of worth $1.7bn foreign loans, the attendees has cleared seven concept clearance projects.
