Car sales rise 40% during first 10 months of 2024-25

Sales of passenger cars in Pakistan surged as much as 40 per cent year-on-year to 111464 units  during the first months of  outgoing financial year 2024-25 as compared to  79596 units sold during the corresponding period of last  financial year.

According to  the latest  facts and  figures available  from the  Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers  Association (PAMA) in this regard,  during the month of April 2025 alone car sales had  clocked in at commendable  figures of 10596 though reflecting just a modest  1% increase  as compared to April 2024 but down 5% from March 2025.

The month-on-month sale had dipped due to disruptions in the delivery process which were caused by closures of highways in Sindh province owing to varying reasons.

However , the analysts give due credit of the year-on-year  growth  to the  country’s  stabilizing  macroeconomic  conditions, reduction in the interest rates  by the  State Bank of Pakistan, cooling down of inflation, and also the improving of the prospective consumers’ sentiments. Additionally, launching of the new models and variant introductions also helped in attracting the buyers back into showrooms.

As far as the major players were  concerned,  Honda Atlas Cars posted the  highest  monthly  as well as yearly growth in  April  2025  with sales jumping   20 percent on Month-on-Month  and 70 % YoY  to 1707 units.

In contrast, Pak Suzuki Motor Company noted its volumes fall 12 % MoM and 33 % YoY to 4003 whereas the Indus Motor Company  also fared well with as much as 58 % YoY and only 4 % MoM  in April while Hyundai Nishat recorded  a 9% YoY but a 5 % decline on MoM basis.

Furthermore , Sazgar Engineering  Works experienced   the steepest  monthly drop  in its sales of as much as  42 %  with April 2025 sales of 549 units only , flat compared to the last year figures  owing to a 10 days halt in  the production   process. due to the workers strike. However, SAZEW’s cumulative 10 months FY25 sales had still risen by as much as 130% YoY to 8576 units, buoyed by strong demand for its Haval brand during the period under report here.
