Canal road Lahore widening project on the cards

The government has decided to complete the widening of Canal road from Harbanspura to Bambawali-Ravi-Bedian (BRB) canal and make 3 lanes of road on both sides.

According to sources the project for widening of canal road from Harbanspura to BRB canal has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.8 billion and will be a part of the budget for the next fiscal year. During the previous administrative setup canal road was widened from mall road till Harbanspura.

The plan for canal road widening project includes 6 meters wide new road which will be added on both sides. Moreover 4 U-turns for efficient flow of traffic and pedestrian bridges will also be a part of this project. Canal road is used by more than 35 thousand people every day.
